While attending Washington College, in Chestertown, Maryland, Curtis decided to obtain his real estate license and joined his father's real estate firm, Anderson-Stokes Realtors. Curtis became president of the firm after his father's death and led the company through its expansion to 20 offices and expanded the publicly traded company into insurance, advertising and development. The company was sold and Curtis decided to pursue his real love of the water and made yachting his career.

Curtis' yachting career includes everything from a 75' Trumpy to a 180' Feadship. He has been associated with and enjoyed worldwide cruising on such well known vessels as EXCELLENCE, FIFFANELLA, OUR TOY, MOECCA, RENEGADE, KISSES and HUNTRESS. Curtis also gained experience as sales manager at Hatteras Yachts, in New Bern, NC, where he helped develop and sell new models and train and coordinate his dealer network. Curtis left Hatteras Yachts after Brunswick Corp. bought the company to pursue his ultimate goal of being an independent yacht broker. Curtis now enjoys working as a team with his wife, Gill, associated with Curtis Stokes and Associates based in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Curtis holds an active USCG 3000 ton Master license and a PADI Divemaster certificate. He is also a former Emergency Medical Technician, firefighter and CPR instructor. Curtis is an active member of the Professional Yachtsmen's Association, Superyacht Society, Coastal Conservation Association, Billfish Foundation, International Gamefish Association, and Duck's Unlimited.

My honest approach to the "business" side of yachting sets me apart from other brokers. Please feel free to CONTACT ME at Curtis Stokes and Associates and start that relationship of quality service, advice, and support, which will continue long after buying or selling your yacht.

Thank you for spending your valuable time on my website. I wish you fair winds and safe seas.

Yacht Broker Bransom Bean

Branson Bean Yacht Broker Curtis Stokes & Associates has had an international presence since the company started and has recently enhanced their international reach with the addition of Bransom Bean as a new sales associate to be based in Isle of Man in the British Isles. He will be part of a widely experienced brokerage team with the ability to manage and service clients around the globe.

Bransom is a seasoned seafarer, author, and international executive whose work in the yachting community gives him unique opportunities to represent Curtis Stokes & Associates. As a Business Coach focusing on marine businesses, he helps individuals and entities identify and achieve their goals. Bransom says, “Now I will look forward to helping people I encounter along the way find their perfect yacht.”

Bransom’s maritime experience ranges from recreational power boating and sailing to serving as an Officer in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service. In 1996/97 he raced in the BT Global Challenge, a 33,000 mile race, west about, under sail and south of both Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope as crew in Commercial Union Assurance. Among many impressive passagemaking experiences on Bransom’s resume, a significant achievement in his marine career is organizing and raising the requisite US$1 million sponsorship to fund the Isle of Man’s entry in the 2000/2001 BT Global Challenge, a project with 20 major sponsors he managed with the Isle of Man government.

A founder and first Executive Director of the U.S. Superyacht Association, he is also a member of the International Superyacht Society, the Professional Yachtsman Association, Boating Writer’s International, the Yachting Journalists’ Association, the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC), the Propeller Club, the US Navy League, the Merchant Navy Association, and the Submarine League.

Due to the economic crisis in the U.S. over the last two years, Curtis Stokes has used his experience marketing and selling yachts worldwide to continue to meet his client’s expectations by reaching potential buyers around the world. With an improving economic environment, Curtis sees a growing opportunity in the many countries in which his company’s clients live and cruise, and the European market is a major center of activity and opportunity. Bransom Bean will be based in his own home port of Isle of Man and will travel worldwide to bring new clients to Curtis Stokes & Associates.

“I appreciate Bransom’s business sense and the successes he encountered in launching and managing his businesses. He was sought after repeatedly in the business world and I expect that trend to continue as he networks in the yacht brokerage industry. He has an outgoing personality and has a strong commitment to the yachting industry as a whole. And, his Isle of Man base puts him on Europe’s doorstep,” says Curtis Stokes, President of Curtis Stokes & Associates.

Yacht Broker Neil Lorensen

Neil Lorensen Yacht Broker Curtis Stokes & Associates has recently appointed Neil Lorensen as a new sales associate who will be responsible for marketing and selling yachts from Vero Beach to Palm Beach, FL. Neil is a lifelong boater having owned and maintained sailboats and powerboats and currently lives aboard a Lancer LRC 45-foot trawler in Ft. Pierce which will also be his yacht brokerage base.

Neil grew up on the water in Weekapaug, RI, and was actively boating by age five and winning swimming awards at age 13, including the Young American Medal for Bravery from President Eisenhower for saving two individuals in heavy surf. Neil’s experience in recreational boating took a professional turn when he volunteered for the Vietnam War and spent four years as a submarine sonar technician and ship’s diver. After a successful tour in the Navy, Neil earned a degree in philosophy from Ohio State University and followed his passion for working on the water to the Caribbean. He spent two years in the Virgin Islands as General Manager of two hotels while sailing a 30-foot Pearson as often as possible. Returning to New England, Neil worked for the state of Rhode Island for five years as a marine game warden and diver. He then took his career back into the hospitality industry but engaged his entrepreneurial spirit and spent the next 20 years as owner and operator of Lorensen Produce distributing products to hotels, restaurants, and grocery stores.

Throughout his professional life, Neil remained involved with interests such as paddle tennis, skiing, cooking, swimming, and of course boating with the ultimate goal to sail to warm climates. He made the official move south when he decided to sail his 48-foot Stevens Ocean Racer to Florida single handedly. After six months of navigating south and choosing to live aboard in Florida, Neil made the move from sail to power in favor of his Lancer trawler with a more Florida-friendly draft. Though he is now Florida-based and has cruised both power and sailboats all along the East Coast, through all of the Virgin Islands, the Bahamas, Hawaii, Asia and beyond, Neil’s favorite destination will always be Block Island.

As a resident of Florida, Neil became involved in the yacht brokerage industry out of his interest in boats and was drawn to Curtis Stokes & Associates because of the company’s honest, personal, and professional way of doing business. “Neil’s familiarity with the Florida coast and the level of yachting activity in the area made it an ideal fit to have him concentrate on the Vero Beach to Palm Beach market. We look forward to having someone who is both local and an active boater manage this region,” says Curtis Stokes President of Curtis Stokes & Associates.

“I believe my success is due not only to my strong technical knowledge of yachts but also my attention to detail and superior customer service skills. The Curtis Stokes & Associates team is a great match for my own passion and skill sets,” shares Nelson.
